I’m not a robot

I don’t know if all of you, or just those registered gets the “I’m not a robot” thing when they go the the main page.

I’m sorry having to add that, but some users were being actively “hacked – tested”, and I’m talking over 20 times PER DAY. (mainly my login and the admin login) PER login. It’s been going on for a while. At first, one or two “attacks” every few days, but things ramped up.

The “robots” almost never uses the same address. I’ve taken note of them for 24 hours and I had about 50 different addresses, only 3 having been used twice. in ONE DAY!

The way the original (free) script worked, after 2 failed attempts, the IP Address was locked for 24 hours. After 2 lock-up, the IP was blocked for ONE WEEK. The new (paid – another $50/year going on this site) script is supposed to be intelligent, and added the “robot thingy”.

And when I say it was “tested” 20 times per day, per login, it means that it was a lock-up condition, which also implies that I did receive an e-mail each time there was a lock-up. You can imagine what my inbox looked like.

And that without knowing when one of those login would be hacked and what would be done to the site.

So, you’re allowed to sigh, to swear, to be annoyed by it, but believe me, if I had the choice between nuking those pirates or adding a “I’m not a robot” thingy, I would chose the nuke.

Thank you for your understanding

    1. Not sure I understand. The “login form” is the same for everybody. The captcha is displayed before the fields for username/pwd are displayed, basically at the “login call”.
With that in place, I went from 40 hits a day to… zero.
Anyhoo, I have no say (no choice) on the matter. That’s how the plugin works.
